Why running your regular measures report matters

Maintaining your PIP QI requirements doesn’t have to be complex — and one of the simplest ways to stay on track is by regularly running your PIP QI measures report. 

A quick check of your data helps ensure you’re meeting requirements, identifying opportunities for improvement, and getting the most value from your quality improvement activities. 

Why running your report matters 

Running your PIP QI report regularly helps you to: 

  • Stay compliant – Confirm your data is complete and up to date for the PIP QI program 
  • Track progress over time – See how your practice is improving against key measures 
  • Identify gaps early – Spot missing data, low recording rates, or patients who may benefit from follow-up 
  • Support continuous improvement – Use real insights to guide meaningful QI activities 

Rather than waiting until reporting deadlines, small, regular check-ins can make a big difference.

When should you run it? 

A good approach is to run your PIP QI report: 

  • Monthly (recommended) – Keeps you proactive and reduces end-of-quarter pressure 
  • Before data submissions – Ensures accuracy and completeness 
  • After making changes in your practice – For example, updating workflows or templates 
  • Ahead of accreditation or QI activities – Provides evidence of your improvement work 

What should you look for? 

When reviewing your report, focus on: 

  • Data completeness (e.g. missing diagnoses or observations) 
  • Trends over time (are your measures improving, stable, or declining?) 
  • Outliers or unexpected results 
  • Opportunities for follow-up or recall activities 

This doesn’t need to be time-consuming — even a short review can highlight valuable insights.

Embedding report checks into your regular workflow can help make PIP QI easier to manage. For example: 

  • Schedule a monthly check with your Practice Manager or Nurse 
  • Include it as part of team meetings or QI discussions 
  • Assign a team member to run and review reports 
  • Link findings to your Quality Improvement Plan
