CHAT-GP study

GP practices are invited to participate in the CHAT-GP study. The CHAT-GP study is a partnership with the Heart Foundation and the RACGP designed to make it easier for GPs to assess CVD risk using an auto-populated risk calculator and patient decision aid.

Participation in this research is voluntary. If you choose to participate you would be enrolled in the CHAT-GP program and will gain access to the new CHAT-GP PEN CS Topbar application that links to your practice software (Best Practice or Medical Director). This aims to reduce the time required to do a Heart Health Check and make it easier to communicate risk and options to your patients. Your practice will also receive monthly reports on CVD risk assessment in your practice. View the online CVD Guidelines at https://auscvdrisk.com.au/

Dr Nicholas Brayshaw who has undertaken the project, has provided a testimonial below.

“CHAT GP is my preferred CVD risk assessment tool for several reasons:

  • it invites consideration of a broader range of patient specific considerations, providing more accurate risk stratification
  • through interactive infographics CHAT GP encourages an all important “CHAT” conversation between patient and clinician, promoting shared goal settinglinked resources and case studies examine evidence bases, and offer GP’s CPD
  • CHAT GP empowers patients to understand their CVD risk status, plus potential interventions, and supports GPs in engaging patients in shared, evidence based, clinical decision making.”

More details on the program can be found in a PDF.
