DermEX Dermoscopy Webinar Series

Northern Queensland PHN, in partnership with CheckUP, invites clinicians to join the DermEX Dermoscopy Webinar Series – a structured, practical training program designed to build skills from core principles through to real-world application.

The program is open to all AHPRA-registered health professionals, supporting clinicians at all levels to strengthen diagnostic confidence and clinical decision-making. Although the course is open to all clinicians, 50 bursaries are available only to clinicians in the Cairns and Hinterland and Torres and Cape HHS regions.

This training is fully funded by Northern Queensland PHN and administered by CheckUP. Upfront payment applies, with reimbursement provided upon successful course completion.

Dermoscopy reveals critical diagnostic clues that are invisible to the naked eye. This structured webinar series takes participants step by step – from the fundamentals through to real‑world application – making dermoscopy practical, intuitive, and immediately useful in clinical settings.

Whether you’re building core skills or refining your approach, this course is designed to support safer skin checks and more confident management decisions.

The course is accredited for 15 CDP hours by ACCRM.

Across the live sessions, participants will learn:

  • core principles of dermoscopy, including how different light modes reveal subsurface structures
  • a practical diagnostic framework using the revised two‑step algorithm and pattern recognition
  • how dermoscopic features correlate with histopathology for clearer clinical interpretation
  • confident assessment of common benign lesions and key mimickers
  • high‑yield dermoscopic clues for Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC), Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma, with practical triage guidance.

Each training session (outlined below) will be delivered as a live webinar and recorded, allowing participants to catch up if they miss a session. All training and assessment must be completed by 31 December 2026 to be eligible for reimbursement and CPD hours.
