Walawaani Conference

The Walawaani Conference brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders, health workers, palliative care practitioners, researchers, policymakers, service providers, partner organisations, and other health professionals to strengthen culturally safe, culturally responsive, and person-centred palliative and end-of-life care across Australia.

By gathering leaders in palliative and end-of-life care and amplifying First Nations voices, knowledge, and program initiatives, the conference provides a platform for  collaboration, knowledge sharing, and Indigenous leadership. Through the holistic sharing of cultural wisdom, lived experience, research, and practice, Walawaani supports the returning to Spirit journey for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities.

The biennial conference will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) and will be delivered as a face-to-face event only. This format has been chosen to support cultural connection, relationship-building, and shared experiences that are best achieved through in-person engagement.

We are committed to making Walawaani 2027 accessible to all and offer a limited number of scholarships to support eligible attendees.
