POPGUNS patient triage training

Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN), together with MediCoach, invites Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs), Aboriginal Medical Services (AMSs), and general practice staff to attend a practical 90-minute evening session.

Presented by MediCoach Director Kim Poyner, this practical session will explore how POPGUNS can support effective patient triage in primary care settings.

What we’ll cover:

  • what POPGUNS is and how it can be applied at front desk
  • recognising red flags that require immediate escalation to a nurse or GP
  • working through real-life phone and front counter scenarios
  • establishing a clear handover process between reception and clinical staff
  • handling patients who wish to be seen immediately.

Participants located in rural and remote areas (MMM 4–7) are invited to register for the hybrid workshop being held in Mackay on Tuesday 24 November 2026 using the link or QR code below.

For those attending in-person, canapés will be available from 5.30pm. For catering purposes, please register by 4pm, Wednesday 11 November 2026.
