Cancer outcomes are not only shaped by clinical care, but by whether people feel safe, respected, and included throughout their healthcare journey.
The LGBTIQA+ Cancer Care Education Series is an eight-part webinar series designed to strengthen healthcare professionals’ ability to provide inclusive, affirming, and person-centred cancer care for LGBTIQA+ communities.
Across the series, participants will explore the unique experiences, challenges, and healthcare needs of LGBTIQA+ people throughout the cancer journey – from prevention and early detection to diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and supportive care.
Led by expert clinicians, researchers, and community representatives, each session combines the latest evidence with practical guidance for improving equity in cancer care and supporting the implementation of the Optimal Care Pathway for LGBTIQA+ People with Cancer in clinical practice.

Learning outcomes:
On completion of this course and its components, participants will be able to:
- Describe the experiences, needs and priorities of LGBTIQA+ people affected by cancer across the cancer care continuum.
- Understand the impact of stigma, discrimination, healthcare barriers on cancer experiences and outcomes for LGBTIQA+ communities.
- Explore the intersections between cancer, sexuality, gender identity, sex characteristics, relationships, chosen family and wellbeing.
- Identify opportunities to improve cancer care and support for LGBTIQA+ people through evidence-informed practice, community engagement and the application of the LGBTIQA+ Cancer Optimal Care Pathway.
