Co-designing a blueprint for pharmacist-delivered depression and anxiety screening and referral for parents in community pharmacy

This research study aims to co-design a blueprint for a perinatal depression and anxiety screening and referral service, delivered by pharmacists, that is inclusive of all parents in the perinatal period in an Australian context. This may include working with stakeholders e.g., consumers, pharmacists, and other perinatal mental healthcare providers to develop learning objectives, training requirements, a service model, and resources, guided by professional pharmacy practice and competency standards.

  • To develop this blueprint we will explore the following from stakeholders’ perspectives:
    • What does a PNDA screening and referral service for parents in community pharmacy look like?
    • What are the training requirements for pharmacists and pharmacy staff conducting this service?
  • What are the relevant resources necessary for pharmacists providing and parents receiving this service?

We are looking to recruit expectant and/or new parents, as well as healthcare professionals (e.g., GPs, nurses, midwives, psychologists, psychiatrist, obstetricians, pharmacists, and pharmacy assistants) to participate in this study.
