This dynamic, interactive workshop is designed for immunisation providers who want to strengthen both their vaccine communication skills and clinical expertise.
The workshop will feature expert presenters:
- Dr Jess Kaufman, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (content development, facilitation and honorarium)
- Rachael McGuire, Education Nurse Coordinator, Melbourne Vaccine Education Centre
- Sarah Duncanson, Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse at one of Australia’s largest children’s hospitals
With expert instruction, group discussions, and participation in hands-on scenarios, by the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- recognise common drivers of vaccine hesitancy, including concerns about adverse events, immunisation errors, and external influences
- demonstrate effective use of evidence-based communication strategies and learn how to respond to challenging questions
- recall types of common and rare adverse events following immunisation
- develop your practical skills by recognising and managing severe adverse events
