Disaster management workshop (Proserpine)

Disaster events affecting northern Queensland are becoming more complex, more concurrent, and increasingly difficult to predict.

Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) and Mackay Hospital and Health Service (MHHS) invite GPs, RACHs, and pharmacies to join this workshop to further strengthen their disaster management knowledge and capabilities, helping to ensure continuity of care for communities when disaster events occur.

Learning outcomes

  • Recognise local disaster management arrangements and escalation pathways (DDMG/LDMG).
  • Understand practical operational risks to service continuity across primary healthcare stakeholders.
  • Identify key dependencies between health providers, HHS, utilities, telecommunications, and transport.
  • Participate in a practical Disaster Exercise to test assumptions on power, communications, fuel, water, and medication supply.
  • Develop actionable steps to strengthen continuity of care locally following the workshop.
