About us
Wheels of Wellness (WoW) is a progressive, values-based not-for-profit delivering primary healthcare to some of the most vulnerable people in the Cairns community.
Our team provides free, person-centred medical, allied health and social support to people experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and complex social challenges.
We work both from a fixed clinic and through mobile outreach — meeting people where they are, in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
About the role
We’re looking for a Casual Registered Nurse to join our team — someone who can step in across clinic and outreach shifts and support continuity of care for our clients.
This is a hands-on role working alongside GPs and Indigenous health workers to deliver holistic primary healthcare.
You will:
- Provide clinical nursing care within your scope in both clinic and outreach settings
- Support assessment, treatment and care planning for clients with complex needs
- Assist with medication support and monitoring where required
- Help connect clients to appropriate health and community services
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow WoW processes
- Build strong, respectful relationships with clients and team members
About you
You’re a practical, down-to-earth nurse who is confident working in less structured environments and with people who may have complex needs.
You will bring:
- Current AHPRA registration as an RN
- Experience in primary healthcare, community health or similar (or strong interest)
- Ability to work flexibly across clinic and outreach settings
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, non-judgmental approach
- Genuine motivation to work with vulnerable populations
Interest or experience in the following is highly regarded:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
- Chronic disease management
- Mental health
Due to the social circumstances and vulnerability of our clients, you must be a passionate clinician who can build rapport quickly.
Why join WoW?
- Work that genuinely makes a difference in the community
- Supportive, mission-driven team
- Variety — no two days are the same (clinic + outreach)
- Access to salary packaging (salary sacrificing) benefits
