Pharmacies ready for ePrescribing

The Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) Digital Health Team recently visited pharmacies in the Cairns and Hinterland region in preparation for electronic prescribing.

Pharmacists throughout the metro and regional areas were very welcoming and we are happy to report that most of them are now set up and ready to receive electronic tokens.

TerryWhite Chemmart at Clifton Beach processed their first electronic prescription the morning of the visit from a Queensland traveller. They reported that the dispense process was easy and they were able to fill the electronic token script with minimal changes to their current workflow.

According to the latest update from the Australian Digital Health Agency, we can look forward to prescriber activation from mid-December 2020.

Practices can prepare now by ensuring they have a HPI-O and are connected to an open Prescription Delivery Service via a prescription exchange service such as eRX Script Exchange or MediSecure. See this Checklist for General Practice to help you get started.
