Sydney Street Medical is a well-established, family-oriented General Practice located in the Mackay city heart.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our family.

Sydney Street Medical has extended their services and are looking for additional Registered Nurses to join our general practice team in the heart of Mackay city.

The applicant must be professional, efficient, hardworking, and with the ability to create a good rapport with our patients and team. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, passion, committed to the role, and willing to work collaboratively with our team of nurses.

Our expectations for the successful candidate are as follows:

  • willingness to learn, work as a team, and lead by example
  • highly organised with the ability to multi-task and delegate
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to follow procedures but be confident in decision making skills and working autonomously
  • demonstrate initiative and drive to achieve favourable outcomes for the clinic, supporting doctors and patients
  • able to demonstrate adaptability to different personalities and capabilities
  • flexible to assist with leave coverage and roster changes
  • general practice experience is desirable, specifically with chronic disease management and basic procedures.

A typical day in general practice would include administering vaccines, wound care, triage, assisting with minor procedures, stock control, health assessments, managing patients with chronic health conditions, data quality, and administration duties. 

Skills and experience

  • Current AHPRA registration: RN qualified.
  • Knowledge of chronic disease management is essential.
  • Capacity to multitask, prioritise, and good time management.
  • Must be proactive, with a can-do positive attitude.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior general practice nursing experience is advantageous.
  • Computer literate.

We're seeking an experienced and dynamic Practice Manager to lead our team and ensure smooth operations while maintaining our commitment to exceptional patient care and continuous improvement.

About the role

  • Full-time role, managing both general practice clinic and allied health clinic (located 50m away).

  • Responsibilities include financial management, day-to-day operation requirements, compliance and accreditation, all aspects of employee management, and enhancing patient experiences.

About you

You are an experienced Practice Manager with a passion for healthcare and a strong background in managing a medical practice. You have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement.

Key selection criteria

  • Proven experience in a Practice Manager or similar role within a healthcare setting.
  • Diploma of Practice Management or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Solid understanding of medical billing, financial management, and budgeting, preferably within a general practice setting.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, GP accreditation, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in HR/payroll and all aspects of employee management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in Best Practice and Automed software is highly desirable
