Breast cancer survivorship- what to ask and why it matters.

Please join The Cairns Group GPs on 5 May for an important discussion on Breast cancer survivorship

With improving breast cancer outcomes, more women are living well beyond diagnosis and treatment – and increasingly turning to their GP for ongoing care. Yet survivorship often brings complex challenges including treatment-induced menopause, fatigue, cognitive changes, sexual dysfunction, bone health concerns, fear of recurrence, and endocrine therapy side effects. This practical session will explore the common long-term and late effects of breast cancer treatment, with a focus on evidence-based strategies GPs can use to support women to recover, adapt, and thrive after cancer.

Dr Helen Hobson is a General Practitioner working in Mossman and with COUCH Cancer Hub NQ in Cairns.
She has developed a strong interest in cancer survivorship care, supporting patients as they navigate life during and after cancer treatment. Her approach focuses on whole-person care, including physical health, emotional wellbeing, and practical lifestyle strategies for long-term recovery.

Dr Zoe Adam is a general practitioner working at Redlynch Medical Centre.
She is a women’s health advocate, and breast cancer survivor with a passion for supporting women beyond diagnosis and treatment. She has a special interest in survivorship care, menopause, and helping women reclaim health and wellbeing after cancer.

Join us from 6pm for a light refreshment at JCU’s The Yeinie Building at 11-13 Charles St Cairns North.
