Tell us about your role and what a typical day looks like?
A typical day begins with quality time spent with family, followed by warmly greeting the staff at the medical practice and dedicating the rest of the day to caring for patients.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most about being a doctor is the privilege of building trust with my patients and making a meaningful difference in their lives. Every day brings a new opportunity to listen, guide, and provide care that helps people feel better physically, emotionally, and often both. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of someone’s health journey.
Is there a particular patient story or experience that has stuck with you?
Every patient’s story stays with me. Being part of their journey; from the beginning through to the end; is a privilege I don’t take lightly. It’s not just about treating an illness; it’s about supporting both the patient and their family through every step of the process. That connection and trust is what makes the work so meaningful.
Why do you choose to work in a regional, rural, or remote area?
I chose to work in Bushland Beach because of its strong sense of community, the relaxed coastal lifestyle, and the genuine, friendly people. Being close to the beach and surrounded by nature makes it a beautiful place to live and work.
What do you like to do outside of work when you are out and about in your community?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, exploring local culture, catching a game of cricket, and connecting with friends in the community. It’s a great way to relax and stay grounded.
Dr Kumar and his clinic regularly meet with NQPHN’s Primary Care Engagement team and are very keen to develop a deeper understanding of the clinical benefits of Primary Sense for their GPs. Their nurses also make use of the APNA membership through NQPHN to increase their knowledge and extend their scope of practice.
