Youth Mental Health First Aid Training – Innisfail

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a practical, evidence-based training designed to equip adults with the skills and confidence to support young people (ages 12–18) who may be experiencing mental health challenges or crises.

Participants will learn how to recognise early signs of common mental health issues, respond appropriately, and provide initial support until professional help is available. The course covers key topics including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, psychosis, substance use, and crisis situations such as panic attacks, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

This training is ideal for health professionals, educators and school staff, support workers, and anyone working closely with young people. Registration is not open to adolescents or parents. Delivered by accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructors, this training is interactive and practical, using real-life scenarios and guided discussion.

Participants receive:

  • a nationally recognised Youth Mental Health First Aid certificate
  • practical strategies and resources to use in real settings
  • increased confidence to respond early and effectively to emerging mental health concerns, or supporting a young person during a mental health crisis.
