Conversations about Non-Suicidal Self-Injury – Cairns

This training focuses on building safe, informed, and compassionate conversations about non‑suicidal self‑injury (NSSI) — a behaviour that can affect both young people and adults. While the content is relevant to people of all ages, this session is designed with a strong focus on supporting young people, reflecting our organisation’s commitment to youth wellbeing.

Participants will develop a deeper understanding of what NSSI is, why some people engage in it, and how it functions as a coping strategy. The training emphasises how to to respond to self‑injury in ways that are supportive, non‑judgemental, and reduce stigma, while avoiding responses that may unintentionally cause harm.

This training is suitable for health professionals, educators and school staff, support workers and anyone that works directly with young people. It is particularly relevant for those working in school, community health, or youth‑focused settings. Registration is not open to adolescents and parents.
