Cardiac Assessment and Management Course

Posted Sunday 24 November 2024 | Nurses For Nurses Network

This course is ideal for:

Any Nurse working in critical care, coronary care, emergency departments as well as general ward areas. It is designed not only for the critical care areas but ideal for the Nurse in a telemetry ward or any Nurse who performs a 12 lead ECG for a patient with chest pain.

The changing environment in health has led to a lack of access to advanced care settings such as critical care units as they may not be available. Therefore, Nurses in all areas require both basic and more advanced clinical knowledge and skills in this area of care to manage these patients across a range of clinical settings.

Paramedics interested in ECG interpretation would also benefit from this course.

You’ll learn:

  • The vital foundation of interpretation of sinus rhythm, which is essential knowledge of every Registered Nurse

  • Interpretation of Life-threatening arrhythmias especially relating to the understanding of PEA (Pulseless Electrical Activity) and VT (Ventricular tachycardia)

  • The treatment of PEA and VT according to the Australian & NZ Committee of Resuscitation guidelines (ANZCOR)

  • About sudden cardiac death in young people, and understand how it can be related to the Long QT interval syndrome which can be hereditary or due to a side effect of medication
