Placing our Footsteps Beside and Together

The presentation will be delivered as a Storytelling as Healing and as Education, this approach invites practitioners into an experience that data and theory cannot convey. Storytelling plays a dual role in palliative care, trauma and grief as both healer and educator.

The presentation will have 4 themes:

Theme 1: Sorry Business and Sad News: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Considerations for palliative Care

Theme 2: Importance of Cultural Authority, Nation Building, Cultural Identity, Connection to Country as a Core Dimension of Dying and Grief

Theme 3: Cumulative and Collective Grief in First Nations Communities

Theme 4: Cultural Safety as a Non-Negotiable Standard of Care
