GP Clinical Education Dinner: Eye Cases in GP Practice

A clinical education dinner and drinks to engage in practical case-based learning GPs can apply immediately in clinic.

Eye Cases in GP Practice: What Matters, What’s Urgent, What Can Wait is a practical, case-based clinical education dinner and drinks designed specifically for General Practitioners.

Co-hosted by optometrists Mike Yapp and Prajna Vidyasagar, alongside Townsville based optometrist Casey Winter, this session focuses on the eye conditions GPs commonly encounter in everyday practice — and how to confidently assess, triage, and manage them.

Through real-world cases and interactive discussion, the evening will explore:

  • Which eye presentations require urgent action
  • What can be managed initially in general practice
  • When and how to refer to optometry, and what optometrists can manage within their scope.

The session is grounded in practical learning that GPs can apply immediately in clinic, while also providing clarity on contemporary optometry scope of practice and referral pathways. Above all, this event is about strengthening local collaboration between GPs and optometrists, improving shared patient care, and building clearer, more effective working relationships. Enjoy an informal clinical discussion over dinner, with plenty of opportunity for questions, conversation, and peer exchange.

6:15pm for drinks and networking 6:30pm session start. A two-course meal and beverages will be served throughout the evening.
