This grant opportunity is intended to support special measures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by assisting NATSIFAC Program service providers, in locations where higher costs and reduced capacity to generate revenue constrain their ability to replace equipment, undertake building maintenance and upgrades, and provide quality, safe staff accommodation. Funding for this grant opportunity comes from the DACS Fund in accordance with the information in Section 2. The grant opportunity will assist service providers to deliver culturally safe, quality aged care services.

There are three categories of funding available:

Category 1

• staff accommodation unit
• minor capital works or upgrades to existing buildings

Category 2

• maintenance or renovations to existing building/s

Category 3

• training, the purchase or replacement of furniture or equipment.

The grant is open to those organisations currently funded under the NATSIFAC Program, and funding will be prioritised for services in MMM6-7 locations. There’s $7m available in total.

Symptoms of lung disease and lung cancer tend to creep up slowly and many people put them down to ageing or lack of fitness. But breathlessness and fatigue are not a normal sign of ageing, and a persistent or changed cough shouldn’t be put down to the flu or a cold. Though they may seem mild, these symptoms can be a sign of something serious, such as lung disease or lung cancer.

The Active Script List (ASL) will provide a list of all active prescriptions and repeats available to dispense, which will eliminate a consumers need to keep track of digital tokens in the form of SMS or emails from doctors or pharmacists. This approach is particularly useful for patients who manage multiple medications. 

While electronic prescriptions are not compulsory to use, including ASL, it will provide consumers, prescribers, and dispensers with multiple benefits which include:  

• a reduction in prescribing and dispensing errors  
• assisting in medication management and adherence 
• a shared view of prescriptions available for dispense 
• reduced likelihood of patients losing prescriptions 
• reduced risk in prescription duplication 
• allowing the patient to decide where and how they have their prescriptions dispensed.
