Practice Incentive Program Quality Improvement Incentive (PIP QI)

The Practice Incentives Program Quality Improvement (PIP QI) Incentive aims to support general practice while encouraging continuous quality improvement and better outcomes for patients.

Services Australia administers the PIP QI Incentive on behalf of the Department of Health and Aged Care. It rewards practices for participating in continuous quality improvement activities in partnership with their local PHN.

To be eligible to receive a PIP QI payment general practices must:

  • be eligible for and participating in the
    Practice Incentives Program (PIP)
  • Register for the PIP QI Incentive
  • electronically submit the PIP Eligible Data Set to their local PHN quarterly
  • undertake continuous quality improvement activities in partnership with their local PHN.

Eligible practices can receive a maximum payment of $12,500 per quarter, based on $5 per Standardised Whole Patient Equivalent, per year. In order to receive a payment, general practices must have submitted their quarterly data to PHN at least once during the data submission period for that quarter.

Practices within the Northern Queensland PHN region can submit the PIP eligible data set to Northern Queensland PHN via Primary Sense or by JSON file, generated by the practice clinical software or Pen CS CAT4.
