Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) along with Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (HHS), Townsville HHS, Torres and Cape HHS, and Mackay HHS; in a joint venture released the foundation level Joint Regional Wellbeing Plan for the regions in 2021 (available here).

We are now working towards developing a fully integrated comprehensive plan that is due to be finalised in June 2025. This comprehensive plan will drive and inform evidence-based service development to address identified gaps and deliver on regional priorities in relation to mental health, suicide prevention, and alcohol and other drugs community needs.

The comprehensive plan will build on the foundational plan and define key themes and priorities for the entire northern Queensland region. This plan will be strengthened by the addition of sub-regional sections  that will ensure s the uniqueness of each region and its needs around mental health, suicide prevention, and alcohol and other drugs are clearly articulated to enable localised actions

The comprehensive plan will be progressed over the next year and be completed 30 June 2025.
