‘1 in 10 Uniting for Change’ 10th Annual National Borderline Personality Disorder and Complex Trauma Conference

Event description

INPERSON (Melbourne) and LIVESTREAMED.  For more information or to register

This year, we’re bringing together clinicians, people with lived experience, carers and policymakers to focus on one urgent goal: reducing the heatrtbreaking statistic that 1 in 10 people who die by suicide have symptoms consistent with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (BPD) – a treatable condition.

We’re working to change that – by uniting the sector and pushing for systemic reform through three thought-provoking panels:

  • Working together to make 1 in 10 history
  • Suicide prevention and BPD
  • Driving reform – improving national mental health responses

Plus you’ll hear insights from current Australian research and join a powerful closing discussion on the steps we can each take to make change.

Presenters include:

  • Destanee Aiava
  • Dr Peggy Brown
  • Dr Haley Peckham
  • NEA BPD Australia
  • Brin Grenyer Project Air Strategy
  • Dr Dianna Bartsch BPD Co
  • Dr Louise McCutcheon Orygen
  • A/Professor Sathya Rao OAM Spectrum
  • Safer Care Victoria
  • Alison Asche, PhD Suicide Prevention Australia
  • and more.

The event is ideally suited for clinicians and service providers from a range of mental health and allied health sectors who want to broaden their understanding of BPD and learn more strategies to support people experiencing chronic suicidal distress. People living with BPD (and their carers) are welcome to attend; and we encourage you to consider your own wellbeing, as most of the sessions will include discussion of suicide. Support will be available during the day.

The conference is our flagship event for BPD Awareness Week 2025 – and we’d love you to be part of it!
