Opening hours 

  • Monday to Friday: 7.30am to 6.30pm.
  • Saturdays: 8am to 6pm.  
  • Sundays: 9am to 5pm.

Cairns Family Medical Centre is seeking a private psychologist to locate their business in rooms within the medical centre three days a week for a fee payable to the clinic.  You would be taking over from psychology services, who have up until recently, occupied the rooms. Cairns Family Medical Centre's doctors working at this clinic would in most cases refer patients to the in-house psychologist.  Days available: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (whatever hours you choose on these days). This is a perfect opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist or Psychologist with an Interest in working in a diverse ethnic patient base in a busy medical centre.  Essential Criteria

  • Relevant registration with AHPRA.
  • Relevant qualifications in Psychology.
  • Experience with adults with mental health disorders.
  • Experience children with mental health disorders.
  • Experience with eating disorders.

The role

The Service Planning and Design Manager - Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) has responsibility for managing and ensuring commissioned health services are tailored, comprehensive, and appliable to the needs of its users by planning and designing programs and projects that are effective and in alignment with NQPHN’s strategic objectives. This position manages a complex portfolio of Mental Health and AOD sector engagement, relationship management, capacity building, and commissioning activities and works collaboratively and strategically with the sector, peak bodies, health services, government, and other key stakeholders.

The role includes:

  • providing operational support across the Mental Health and AOD commissioning portfolio to ensure planning and design initiatives are effective and achieve key strategy and operational outcomes
  • engaging at a strategic level with stakeholders to design Mental Health and AOD services
  • working in collaboration with other NQPHN functions to best inform commissioning planning and design of health services
  • providing line management support to senior service planning and design officers within the team.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification and/or five years relevant work experience specifically in Mental Health and AOD
  • demonstrated understanding of health commissioning processes, model of service design, health service design, and delivery in a community environment
  • demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive support to the administration, management, and procurement of services
  • demonstrated leadership and management experience, with experience managing staff
  • demonstrated ability to develop rapport and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a high demand work environment
  • highly developed interpersonal, communication, influencing, partnering, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, particularly in relation to community and stakeholder engagement within the health sector
  • demonstrated skills in dealing with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
  • self-sufficient in the use of information technology/Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Gordonvale Family Medical Centre are offering a full time position with the capacity to see many patients. The nature of their patient demographic is broad and as such, so is the medicine. You'll experience chronic disease, skin cancer, sexual health, work cover, mental health, paediatrics, dermatology, women's health, and more. We have a patient base to support billings in the range of $400k-$500k+

Gordonvale Family Medical Centre is open 8.30am-6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 12pm on Saturday. 

About you

General Practitioners with Vocational Registration (FRACGP, FACRRM, FRNZCGP, or equivalent) with AHPRA (a must). Non-VR GPs are welcome to apply.
