Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) is one of 31 regionalised and independent PHNs established nationally by the Commonwealth Department of Health to provide local communities with better access to improved primary healthcare services.

The NQPHN region extends from Moranbah in the south, up to the Torres Strait in the north, and west to Croydon and Kowanyama.

The role

The Integration and Partnerships Specialist – Townsville is responsible for strategic engagement of internal and external stakeholders and partners to drive integration of health systems to enable enhanced services. The role is also responsible for managing and optimising current relationships, identifying new business opportunities and efficiencies, and working with stakeholders to codesign services.

Working with the Integration and Partnership Specialist Team, the Integration and Partnerships Specialist – Townsville will also support other NQPHN Teams in their engagement activities to build relationships across the NQPHN region.

The successful candidate

The successful candidate will have:

• minimum degree qualifications in a health-related discipline and five years’ experience in a senior role within a health service or related field
• demonstrated high level of knowledge and/or experience in stakeholder engagement including theory and practice
• demonstrated ability to develop rapport, build, and manage relationships with various stakeholders
• a proven track record of systems integration work that includes working across organisations and sectors with demonstrated outcomes
• demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and negotiation skills
• demonstrated leadership skills and experience working in an environment of rapid change and ambiguity
• demonstrated ability with strategic and work plan development, submissions, grant applications, and program marketing material
• ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a high demand work environment.

The role

The Older Persons Health and Palliative Care Lead has overarching responsibility for leading and developing a broad range of programs that support senior Australians to access the care they need. Programs include improving the integration of aged and primary care, improving access to high quality primary care, and supporting older people to live well at home for as long as possible. This is achieved through the commissioning of navigation and early intervention in chronic disease services, which support healthy ageing and reduce pressure on local health services. The role also involves leading engagement with the residential aged care and palliative care sectors and leading the implementation of supports that build their capacity to provide quality End-of-Life care.

The role has a key role in providing strategic oversight to the implementation of a number of recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. It also involves building a new team with responsibilities for fostering collaborative relationships with key partners and employing co-design approaches in commissioning work.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

• Degree qualifications in a health-related discipline and five years’ experience in a leadership role within the health, community, or aged care sector.
• Demonstrated understanding of the health challenges of older persons and the opportunities and challenges for the palliative care sector in the North Queensland region. 
• Demonstrated understanding of health commissioning processes, strategic health service design and delivery in a community environment, and strong clinical governance practices.
• Demonstrated project management experience, systems thinking, and a high-level ability to conduct cohesive networking and stakeholder engagement with the health sector across the NQPHN region.
• Demonstrated experience in leading, developing, and contributing to a multi-disciplinary and multifaceted team across geographical locations.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and conflict and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Australian South Sea Islanders peoples in our region.
