Health Community Connectors Workshop (Innisfail-Cassowary Coast)

Posted Saturday 09 November 2024 | Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN)

Take part in building Compassionate Communities in Innisfail Cassowary Coast

Would you like to be part of the social movement in building Compassionate Communities? If yes, then we invite you to attend Northern Queensland Primary Health Network's (NQPHN's) upcoming Health Community Connectors Workshop and learn from experts with lived experience in the field.

Compassionate Communities are a core part of public health approaches to palliative care, end of life care, and bereavement. It is a whole-of-community approach to improving the end-of-life experience for people by mobilising local networks, groups, and services to be more conscious, aware, and equipped to offer support.

It is impossible to have hospices built in every suburb, so building Compassionate Communities works to mobilise the community to do their bit for the frail and elderly who live alone, for people with life limiting illnesses, and for people who are grieving.

We want these vulnerable groups to know they are not alone. They are part of our communities and we have the responsibility to support them.

If contributing to the community and planning well in the face of ageing, declining health, and end of life is important to you, then join us for our Health Community Connector Workshop, where you will have the opportunity to:

  • improve your knowledge, skills, confidence, and attitudes concerning end-of-life care at home or in the community
  • improve awareness of quality palliative care options including advance care planning at home or in the community
  • improve death literacy and be more conscious, aware, and equipped to offer support to vulnerable families.
