Program overview
The Digital Capability Building Grants Program supports allied health provider organisations in northern Queensland to enhance their digital health capabilities. The goal is to improve digital health governance, strengthen data security, and enhance patient care.

This program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and managed by the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN).

This one-time grant is available to allied health provider organisations delivering multidisciplinary team (MDT) care to NQPHN residents who live in Modified Monash Model (MMM) 5-7 regions. The grant supports organisations in adopting and integrating digital health systems to:

  • improve efficiency 
  • enhance patient care 
  • address workforce service gaps through seamless digital health solutions. 

Grant funds must be used to enhance your organisation’s digital health capability in one or more of the following categories:  

  • Clinical Information Systems  
  • Secure Messaging Systems  
  • Reliable Digital Health Adoption  
  • Trusted and Protected Digital Health  
  • Strengthening Digital Literacy Skills  
  • Enhancing Patient Access to Digital Health

To be eligible, applicants must: 

  • be an allied health provider organisation delivering MDT care to NQPHN residents who live in MMM 5-7 regions
  • serve patients with priority chronic conditions, as identified in the NQPHN Chronic Conditions Strategy
  • submit only one application per provider organisation 
  • complete the application process, including a short questionnaire on your current organisational digital capability
  • commit to providing a report on the use of grant funds
  • be a registered business. 

The following organisations are not eligible to apply: 

  • Solely government-funded providers, including public hospitals, TAFEs, universities, and Federal, State, or Local Government entities.  
  • Providers engaged exclusively in management, leadership, teaching, supervision, aged care, palliative care, or NDIS-related services. 
  • Providers already funded to deliver NQPHN MDT contracts. 
  • Grants of up to $10,000 (GST exc) are available. 
  • Funding is capped and time limited.  
  • Applications will be assessed based on eligibility and alignment with grant objectives. 
  • Organisations with multiple service sites can only submit one application. 
  • Late applications will not be considered. 
  • Grant funds must be used to enhance digital health capability within the eligible categories. 
  • Funds cannot be used to purchase capital assets exceeding $5,000 (GST exc). 
  • All funds must be spent, and a financial declaration and grant report must be submitted to NQPHN by 15 June 2025. 
  • Any unspent funds must be returned to NQPHN. 
  • Upon approval of funding and receipt of a signed agreement, 80% of the approved funds will be disbursed. 
  • The remaining 20% will be released upon submission of the completed declaration form and final report. 
  • No additional funding will be provided beyond the approved amount. 
  • Applications open: Friday 21 March 2025 
  • Applications close: Sunday 13 April 2025 
  • Notification of application outcome: 24 April 2025 
  • Financial declaration and Final Report due: 15 June 2025

To submit a registration for this grant you will need the following information:

  • Registered Business Name
  • ABN
  • Insurance Compliance (digital copies ready to upload)
    • Certificate of Currency - Public Liability Insurance (not less than $20 million per claim)
    • Certificate of Currency - Professional Indemnity Insurance (not less than $10 million per claim)
    • Certificate of Currency - WorkCover Queensland Policy or equivalent
