Advanced Skin Cancer Course

Course overview

The aim of the activity is to advance the GPs’ knowledge and understanding of skin cancer removals through reviewing the use of dermoscopy in diagnosis, practicing surgical and suturing techniques and discussing systems for safe management of skin cancer.

Learning outcomes

  1. Describe the dermoscopic features of basal cell carcinoma and melanoma vs benign melanocytic naevi and seborrheic keratoses.

  2. Define the indications for various surgical techniques.

  3. Demonstrate advanced suturing and surgical skills.

  4. Implement a system for patient safety regarding the management of patients’ skin cancer.

  5. Outline ethical and legal aspects of skin cancer Medicine, within the framework of Medicare and General Practice, especially the relationship with Medicare Audits and item Numbers.
