Status: Full time fixed term (until 30 June 2023) Salary: $121,210 - $129,915 p.a. plus super

About us Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the opportunity The SEWB Services - Clinical Lead is responsible for supporting the delivery of culturally appropriate care that meets professional, organisational, legal, and ethical standards in order to optimise health outcomes for the communities of Cape York. This position delivers high level advice, support, and recommendations pertaining to the quality improvement and implementation of therapeutically sound processes and systems utilised by the SEWB Services Team.

It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with organisational policy requirements.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant Human Services discipline such as Psychology or Social Work
  • current registration with the appropriate discipline's professional body
  • experience and competency in the delivery of a broad range of social and emotional wellbeing services, preferably to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and communities
  • experience providing supervision and guidance to less experienced SEWB service providers including providing support and guidance in complex case work
  • experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people desirable
  • experience working within the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
  • current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement

About the opportunity The Nursing - Clinical Lead is responsible for the provision of effective clinical leadership of Nursing and Midwifery services enabling positive health outcomes for Cape York communities.

About you To be successful in this role you will have:

  • tertiary qualification in nursing 
  • registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
  • a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a clinical leadership role, providing clinical supervision and developing nursing and/or midwifery teams in the effective delivery of services
  • experience in service planning, implementing and evaluating nursing and midwifery services
  • advanced knowledge and application of contemporary nursing clinical practice
  • understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.

  • demonstrated experience providing clinical guidance and support to a multi-disciplinary team
  • demonstrated experience in implementing clinical governance and patient safety frameworks, processes, and systems
  • understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
