The Cairns Youth Sexual Violence Prevention Service (RespectMe) is funded to deliver culturally-safe, age-appropriate, and evidence-based primary prevention strategies that address the drivers and factors of gendered violence and causes of sexual violence amongst children and young people aged from 12 years.
Adolescence is a crucial period in the formation of respectful, non-violent relationships with evidence showing that violence prevention programs can produce lasting change in attitudes and behaviours.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to:
- deliver direct participation programs to groups/classes of children and young people aged 12 years and above, helping them build crucial life skills
- engage with young people as peer educators, empowering them to become agents of change and advocates for respectful relationships
- contribute to community awareness initiatives, raising awareness about the importance of fostering a respectful and safe environment for everyone
- provide training and mentoring support to local professionals, fostering a collaborative and informed network of support.

Role requirements
To ensure success in this role, we are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
- tertiary qualifications: possessing a degree in Community Services, Behavioural Science, Social Work, Education, or a related field would be highly considered.
- Current Qld Driver's License: As this role involves outreach to schools and communities, a valid driver's license is essential.
- Suitability Card and Federal Police Check: prior to appointment, candidates must have a Suitability Card for Child-Related Employment and a Clear Federal Police Check.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
