Monash University SVRT: Responding to Sexual Violence in Adults Workshop

Posted Friday 16 May 2025 | Monash University

Responding to Sexual Violence in Adults focuses on a consultation with a patient who discloses that they have been subject to sexual violence. It will equip practitioners with an understanding of the challenges to disclosure; identification, assessment, and management of risk; informed consent and capacity to consent; privacy and confidentiality; medical care; forensic principles, documentation and reporting; and referrals. Core to this content is an exploration of key communication skills, trauma-informed and patient-centred responses. This unit references the World Health Organization’s LIVES Framework for responding to and caring for individuals subject to sexual violence and the RACGP’s Eight Steps to Intervention (The 8Rs).

The face-to-face training is accredited as a 7-hour activity and is available to AHPRA registered and Australia-based practicing health practitioners at no cost.
