The Nurse Practitioner Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) provides comprehensive, collaborative advanced nursing care to patients with RHD and their families. 

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in the relevant specialty of cardiology and hold a Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner), or an equivalent postgraduate qualification required for Nurse Practitioner Endorsement with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Wuchopperen is a Community Controlled Aboriginal Health Organisation providing holistic health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Cairns. 

  • Full time, Permanent.  
  • Based in Edmonton. 
  • Salary: $95,946–$102,791. 

The Midwife/Registered Nurse is responsible for providing culturally appropriate antenatal and postnatal care with the aim of improving the health status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women during their pregnancy and birth continuum. 

This position is also responsible for supporting the delivery of effective screening, assessment, and follow up registered nurse services. 

The successful applicant will hold a nursing degree with a postgraduate in Midwifery together with a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), preferably with a Queensland immunisation endorsement. Recent practical experience within a community health setting is highly desirable.

The Generalist Health Worker will work predominantly with clients to provide culturally appropriate and holistic primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of Cairns and surrounding districts, including education and promotion, development and implementation of early intervention strategies and clinical screening protocols. 

The successful applicant will hold a Certificate IV or higher in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care with direct experience in the delivery of clinical health care services. Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is highly desirable.
