Location: Cairns servicing Cape York communities Status: Full Time Fixed Term (until 30 June 2024) Salary: $115,464 - $128,584 p.a. + super

About us Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service. They provide culturally appropriate, family centred, comprehensive primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the opportunity The Nursing - Clinical Lead is responsible for the provision of effective clinical leadership of Nursing and Midwifery services enabling positive health outcomes for Cape York communities.

It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with organisational policy requirements.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About you To be successful in this role you will have:

  • tertiary qualification in nursing 
  • registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
  • a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a clinical leadership role, providing clinical supervision and developing nursing and/or midwifery teams in the effective delivery of services
  • experience in service planning, implementing and evaluating nursing and midwifery services
  • advanced knowledge and application of contemporary nursing clinical practice
  • understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
