Responding to alcohol and other drug use in patients: Introductory webinar (foundational information) - Session 1

The webinar challenges common misconceptions about substance use and substance use disorders in the general population, while focusing attention on identifying and responding through screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment.

Learning outcomes of program

Upon completion of the Introductory webinar presentation, you will:

• be able to identify key risks and harms associated with different types of drugs and patterns of use
• have gained insight into and be able to describe various ways that different substances interact with commonly encountered health conditions seen in general practice
• have gained awareness of possible treatment pathways, and the role that screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (SBIRT) tool can play in facilitating behaviour change among patients.
