The Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) is seeking a Senior Medical Officer for the Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service.

Hughenden is located on the Flinders Highway, 376 kilometres west of Townsville. This newly created Senior Medical Officer role has the option of residing locally in Hughenden, or if preferred, to FIFO from Townsville.
The successful applicant may be eligible for up to $70,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Scheme
- Permanent full-time and part-time and Temporary full-time and part-time roles available (multiple positions, hours negotiable).
- Accommodation and relocation negotiable.

Remuneration
Generous remuneration package between $382,185 to $500,395
Base salary rates between $6776.80 - $9360.20 p.f. or $84.71 - $117.00 p.h. (L13-L25)
- General Attraction and Retention allowance: 35% of base salary (SMO) or 40% of base salary (Rural Generalist).
- Rural and Regional allowance: 5% of base salary.
- Inaccessibility allowance of $41,400 p.a.
- Motor vehicle allowance of $21,000 - $25,500 p.a. (pro rate part-time).
- Recreational leave with 17.5% loading.
- $21,500 p.a. professional development allowance and 3.6 weeks p.a. leave (pro rata part-time).
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
- Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.
About the role
The role of the Senior Medical Officer is to provide high quality primary care and general practice within the Hughenden Surgery, and provision of emergency and inpatient medical services for the Hughenden and/or Richmond Multipurpose Health Service. Duties of this role include research and quality activities, as well as training, supervising and teaching the health professionals of the future. The Senior Medical Officer will lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health (QH) policies.
Requirements
- Qualified as a medical practitioner, qualifications in speciality areas, and current registration and/or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Ideally the candidate would be a Rural Generalist with either:
- Successful completion of advanced skills training in Emergency Medicine (or other AST) and Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM); OR
- Successful completion of advanced rural skills training in Emergency Medicine (or other ARST) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) with Rural Generalist Fellowship.
