Paul Hopkins Medical Complex have multiple roles available in general practice land – Practice Nurse (RN/EEN) This opportunity is open to those with experience or an interest in general practice nursing.
Essential requirements
- Current AHPRA nursing registration.
- Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training.
- Proficiency in computer use and health care technology.
- Positive personality and ability to work in a team environment.
Note: For any student nurses applying, we would consider you for the role if you are in your last year of study to be a registered nurse.
Desirable skills
- Qualification in vaccination (or willingness to achieve).
- Experience or willingness to train in; assisting in minor procedures, wound care, diagnostics (ECG, audio, spirometry), ear irrigation, local anesthetic injections, chronic disease management, geriatric care, health assessments, etc.
- Previous experience in Best Practice software desirable but not essential (or ability to pick up new software quickly).
Position description
The Practice Nurse reports to Nurse Supervisor/s and the Practice Manager.
The Practice Nurse is an integral part of the team as they are responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of the treatment room and providing exceptional standard of care to our patients.
This position is for an “all-rounder” nurse who has exceptional people skills. The main task for this position is to work closely with our patients to complete comprehensive health assessments for review by the general practice. They will also perform a variety of other administrative patient related assessments and clinical duties in the treatment room, as per examples below.
Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive health assessments on patients (mainly on over 75 years of age).
- Assist with care planning for patients with chronic disease management plans.
- Perform clinical duties within required level of clinical competency, according to best available evidence.
- Explain procedures to patients, providing them with education, support, and reassurance.
Hours
Our practice is opened Monday to Friday, staff hours are rostered between the hours of 7.30am to 5pm.
No after hours or weekend work.
Approximately 25 to 30 hours per week, negotiable. School hours available.
Pay rate
Above award. As per Nurse Award 2010 (negotiable in regard to experience and qualifications).
