Sexual health education update

Northern Queensland Primary Health Network, together with the Mackay Hospital and Health Service (MHHS) invite you to a comprehensive sexual health education update. 

Presented by Mackay Sexual Health and Sexual Assault Service Nurse Practitioner Donna Pini, the education session aims to:

• raise awareness of the syphilis outbreak within the MHHS region since January 2023, and the ongoing gonorrhoea outbreak since July 2019
• provide a current update about sexual transmitted infection (STI) risk factors
• provide current evidence based STI treatments
• provide current relevant links and resources.

Learning outcomes:

• demonstrate an awareness of the current MHHS syphilis and gonorrhoea outbreaks
• assess patients for sexual health risk factors, describe what laboratory tests to order, and how to collect these samples
• implement evidence-based and up-to-date knowledge when prescribing sexual health treatments
• describe the process of contact tracing requirements
• demonstrate an awareness of relevant STI internet resources.
