POPGUNS patient triage education workshop

Posted Thursday 18 July 2024 | Northern Queensland Primary Health Network

Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN), together with MediCoach invite general practice staff to attend a 90-minute webinar presented by MediCoach Director Kim Poyner covering the essentials of patient triage.

Focus

A key element of a good triage process is consistency across the practice team. To treat patients effectively, the practice team requires the ability to identify patients’ needs and provide appropriate care.

General practice utilises the POPGUNS Triage Process to aid in the Prioritisation of Patients: A Guide to Urgency for Non-Clinical Staff.

This session will cover:

  • the essential elements of a robust triage system for general practice
  • accreditation standards, under the 5th edition, relating to patient triage
  • tools and strategies to support and train staff on safe and consistent triage procedures that protect patients, the broader community, and the general practice team.

This webinar will have a Q&A opportunity for all participants and will be recorded, with the recording being made available after the webinar.
