Northern Queensland Primary Health Network and the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service invite general practitioners (GPs) to an education session on Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD).

The session will provide an overview of symptoms, diagnosis, and localised management and referral pathways, including building valuable relationships with the specialist hospital team.

Learning outcomes:

  • summarise ARF and RHD
  • distinguish patients at risk for ARF or RHD
  • determine preventative measures for patients at risk of developing ARF or RHD
  • outline current management guidelines and treatment options
  • determine best practice for administering Benzathine Penicillin G (BPG) deep intramuscular injections.

This is an RACGP approved CPD activity under the RACGP CPD Program.
