Introduction to CarerHelp - preparing Australian Families to care

Posted Thursday 16 January 2025 | Brisbane North Primary Health Network

Brisbane North Primary Health Network (PHN) invites you to meet CarerHelp, the project preparing Australian families to care.

When someone has an advanced disease, they often rely on their family to provide the majority of the day-to-day care. However, families are often unprepared for this role.

CarerHelp provide online resource support for Australian families caring for someone with an advanced disease. CarerHelp has practical information on end-of-life care topics including:

  • how to provide care
  • self-care
  • finding services and supports
  • managing common symptoms
  • recognising dying
  • bereavement.

There are factsheets, useful templates, and videos of both carers sharing their experiences and health professionals explaining key topics.

This online presentation will introduce the CarerHelp project and key supports available including new resources for carers in rural and remote areas.

Brisbane North PHN is hosting this initial CarerHelp meeting event on behalf of all Queensland and Northern Territory PHNs.
