Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs
A new approach to mental healthcare for northern Queenslanders.
MyndKind is a new and easier way for North Queenslanders to access mental health services and support that will best suit their needs.
It puts each person at the centre of their own mental health journey, so they feel heard, understood, and respected every step of the way.
MyndKind supports all people in North Queensland who find it difficult to access mental health services.
These people often face financial hardship, limited transport, and other challenges that make it hard to get the help they need.
The easiest way to access MyndKind, and a range of other supports, is to call the Head to Health Phone Service on 1800 595 212 where people will be connected to a service or support that’s right for them.
If MyndKind is not the right service for you, the Head to Health Phone Service will help you find the one that is.
GPs and other health professionals can refer patients to MyndKind via phone, email, or fax.
It has a more diverse range of services and support for people to access, and it’s flexible, which mean support can take place in a group, a person’s home, on the phone, or at the park.
It has been designed in North Queensland by locals who have personally navigated their own mental health challenges and experiences.
It is free and makes accessing mental health options easier for those who need it most.
MyndKind brings together your mental health team, so they all know your story and you don’t need to keep retelling it.
- MyndKind is a partnership between Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) and 17 organisations that provide mental health services.
- MyndKind has been funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) and has been designed by locals for locals.
- It’s a better mental healthcare experience for North Queenslanders.
- It’s free for those who are eligible.
- MyndKind will continue to evolve based on feedback from community members and service providers.
