Voluntary Assisted Dying Unit
Queensland Health’s Voluntary Assisted Dying Unit invites aged care workers to join an information session on the implementation of voluntary assisted dying in Queensland.
Voluntary assisted dying gives people who are suffering and dying, and who meet eligibility criteria, the option of requesting medical assistance to end their lives. It will be available to eligible Queenslanders from 1 January 2023.
The expert panel will discuss:
- Queensland’s Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2021
- The role of aged care workers
- Obligations for residential aged care facilities from 1 January 2023
- The Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Support and Pharmacy Service model of care, functions, and support.

- Lesley McLeod–Assistant Director of Nursing, QVAD-Support
