Northern Queensland Primary Health Network's (NQPHN's) objectives in the mental health priority area include:
- to increase access for North Queenslanders to access mental health services appropriate to their individual needs
- to provide North Queenslander primary health care providers with an integrated approach to mental health care and suicide prevention
- to commission quality mental health services to improve outcomes for patients.
NQPHN leads mental health and suicide prevention planning, commissioning, and integration of services at a regional level to improve outcomes for people with or at risk of mental illness and/or suicide, in partnership with the state government, general practitioners, non-government organisations, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) providers, and other related services, organisations, and providers.
